Imagine you wake up one day in the morning and find pimples all over your face. Quite not a sight you would want to behold. Pimples and acne are caused due to the oil pores swelling by bacteria and they grow overnight. The sebaceous glands produce a substance called sebum which helps to maintain the oil balance on the skin. It also helps in making the skin look bright and healthy. But, when the glands produce abnormal amounts of sebum, it directly leads to the creation of pimples. Washing a face every day to keep it free from bacteria is a must. Ways to get rid of acne are listed below:
Toothpaste for acne: Toothpaste is the most common thing present in your homes and it works wonders on your skin. Toothpaste contains antibacterial properties, which help to eliminate the growth of pimples on your skin. Take some amount of toothpaste on your hands and a cotton swab. Apply it to your face for effective results. This is a process that can be practised daily for the fast healing of pimples. Anyway, a face with pimples is not liked by any.
Epsom salt: Epsom salt and a bowl of water are what you need to kill the bacteria in the infected area. It exfoliates the dead skin cells and removes the upper layers of the skin. Epsom salt helps in balancing the pH levels of the skin so that bacteria do not find a way to grow sooner. Take 1 teaspoon of Epsom salt and ½ cup of water. Mix it well and apply it to the infected area with a cotton ball. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. After using Epsom salt, do not forget to use a moisturizer to dehydrate the skin. This salt works on all skin types.
Apple cider vinegar (ACV): Apple cider vinegar (ACV) reacts on the bacterial part as an astringent and controls excess oil production in the skin. This way bacteria find a lesser place to grow acne and pimples. Take 1 part of apple cider vinegar (ACV) and ½ cup of water and with a cotton ball, apply to all the infected parts. Leave this mixture on for about 7 minutes and then wash it with cold water. The ratio of apple cider vinegar (ACV) and water should be 1:3 for sensitive skin as vinegar can have a strong impact on the skin.
Milk of magnesia: Milk of magnesia is really good to treat pimples as it directly works on the pimple in a day. It absorbs the excess oil produced to remove the production of bacteria. Take a thin layer of milk of magnesia and apply it directly to the acne. You can leave this overnight or also for about an hour. This milk should be kept only for shorter periods on your skin as the chemicals present in it can dry out the skin quickly. This process is suitable for all types of skin.
Fish oil: Fish oil consists of Omega-3 fatty acids, which are a good source for controlling and balancing the production of oil in the body and skin. Skin inflammation is required to be controlled if you want to reduce pimples and acne. Fish oil pills can be taken directly or you can squeeze the capsule and apply it to the acne. 1 fish oil pill taken every day can help in the long run. These pills can be taken daily and one thing to keep in mind is that you should not be allergic to any fish products.
Lemongrass oil: When sebum production is balanced for your skin, it prevents the growth of bacteria and lemongrass helps in doing that. Lemongrass oil contains antimicrobial properties, which help to stop bacteria from growing on acne. It also acts as a skin toner. Take a few drops of lemongrass oil in water and put them in a spray bottle. Spray some amount on your skin and pat it to dry naturally. Please keep it for some hours before rinsing it off. People with sensitive skin should do a small test on their skin to see if it works properly.
Primrose oil: Primrose oil contains Omega-6 acids, which maintain hydration of the skin and also its smoothness. The elasticity of your skin is retained and this particular oil helps to treat cystic acne. Primrose oil is found in capsules or gel. Open a capsule and apply the solution to the infected part. Leave it overnight and clean it with a cleanser the next following day. Taking one capsule every day is another method of using primrose oil.
Aspirin: Aspirin helps in unclogging pores and reduces the excessive swelling of the infected area. Aspirin is considered an anti-inflammatory product and helps treat acne on the face, body, legs, and nearly anywhere you want. Take 1 aspirin tablet, mix it with water, and apply with a Q tip. Let the paste dry on the skin. Keep the paste overnight and wash it early the next morning. This method is not suitable for people with dry skin.
3% Hydrogen peroxide: 3% Hydrogen peroxide contains clear amounts of antibacterial properties, which act as a disinfectant to treat acne on the skin. Take 3% Hydrogen peroxide and a cotton dab. Take this dab and apply the solution to the acne. Keep it for 5 to 7 minutes and then rinse it off with mild water. This process is not good for sensitive skin as it can make the skin dry.
Lemon: Now, lemon is a citrus fruit containing antibacterial properties and kills germs and bacteria, which create swelling. Lemon helps in reducing the inflammation in the skin. Take a lemon and a cotton ball. Apply lemon juice to the infected area with a cotton ball. Keep it for about 40 minutes and wash it with cold water.
